Here is a list of different types of viruses: Boot Sector - A Boot Sector Virus infects the system area of a floppy or hard drive, or the part that is accessed when your computer is first turned on. Infection usually occurs when booting from an infected disk. File Infector Viruses - Most of these viruses reside in the memory of a computer and infect programs' .exe and .com files. Master Boot Record(MBR) Viruses Similar to a Boot Sector viruses, these viruses infect the Master Boot Record and prevent your PC from booting. Multi-partite viruses - These viruses infect both the boot record and program files. Macro viruses - Macro Viruses are prevalent in corporate environments where office applications are used, usually Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). They use a program's code to infect data files. Trojan Horse Viruses - These viruses do not replicate themselves. Instead, they often pose as a harmless file that is downloaded from the web or from an e-mail attachment. These programs can result in the theft or destruction of data files. This type of virus is commonly picked up from peer to peer file sharing programs. Worms Viruses - Worms replicate themselves without using a host file and can spread very quickly across the internet by releasing documents it has infected. Antivirus System PRO is rogue antivirus/antispyware program, new version of Spyware protect 2009. Like other fake antispyware programs, it uses fake alerts and false positives to trick you into buying the software. Antivirus System PRO usually installed itself onto your computer without your permission, through trojans and browser security holes. WinBlueSoft is rogue antispyware program, new version of WiniBlueSoft scareware. WinBlueSoft uses fake alerts and false positives to trick you into buying the software and distributed through the use trojans that display a lot of security alerts stating your computer is infected and that you should download and install WinBlueSoft in order to clean your PC. During installation, WinBlueSoft configures itself to run automatically every time, when you start your computer. In addition, the rogue configures Windows to run blocker.dll (WinBlueSoft component) every time when you start any program. blocker.dll blocks all programs except a few standart windows applications like iexplorer.exe, explorer.exe and of course winbluesoft.exe. Once running, WinBlueSoft will scan your computer and reports false or exaggerated system security threats on the computer that cannot be removed unless you first purchase the software. All of these threats are fake, so you can safely ignore them. Secure Antivirus Pro is a rogue antivirus/antispyware program that installed through the use trojans. Once infected with these trojans your computer will display security alerts that tells you that your computer is infected with malware. These alerts are fake and just being shown to you in order to trick you into buying the software. Privacy Center is a rogue privacy program that installed through the use of a malware that pretends to be flash video player required to view an online video. When the fake player is installed, it will install Privacy Center on to your PC without your permission. When installed, Privacy Center configures itself to run automatically every time, when you start your computer. Once running, Privacy Center starts scanning the computer and list a variety of privacy risks on your computer to trick you to buy the paid version of the rogue.
